What is it?
Developed by the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University, Omeka is “a web publishing platform for sharing digital collections and creating media-rich online exhibits.”
Why use it?
It provides a platform for combining different types of text with audio-visual materials and produces beautiful results with very little technical knowledge required.
Learning curve/drawbacks?
You (or your students) will have to use the free trial unless you have your own hosting option.
The Dashboard can be intimidating to novice users.
Before you start
You will need to create a new account, preferably with your “.edu” email address.
What you will do in this module
You will create an Omeka site featuring at least ten items.
